HSL (A Government of India Undertaking) is the pioneer Shipbuilding and Ship repair Yard functioning under the Ministry of Defence. The Company is looking for dynamic and result oriented personnel with proven track record for the following posts.
(I) GENERAL MANAGER (TECHNICAL) :  2 Posts (1- GEN & 1-SC)                        
Qualifications : Should be an Engineering Graduate in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Naval Architecture/ Industrial Engineering with an aggregate of not less than 55% of marks in the qualifying exam.
(b) Desirable  : Post Graduate in Engineering/ MBA will be preferred.
Experience : Should have at least 20 years of relevant professional experience in Design/ Construction/ repairs of Naval Vessels/ Submarines.
II) GENERAL MANAGER (DESIGNS) : 1 Post (GEN)    
Qualifications Engineering Graduate in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Civil - with Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma in Naval Architecture or Degree in Naval Architecture with an aggregate of not less than 55% marks in the qualifying exam.
(b) Desirable  : MBA will be preferred.
Experience Should have at least 20 years of relevant professional experience in Design/ Construction/ repairs of Naval Vessels/ Submarines.
(III) GENERAL MANAGER (PERSONNEL & ADMINISTRATION) : 1 Post (GEN) 
Qualifications Graduate in any discipline with Post Graduate Degree/ Two year Post Graduate Diploma in Labour & Social Welfare or Labour studies or PM & IR or HR Management or MBA with Personnel Management awarded by recognized Universities/ Institutes registered with AICTE with not less than 50% of marks in qualifying examination.
Desirable : Degree in Law. 
Experience : Should have at least 20 years relevant professional experience in Personnel Management and Industrial relations functions in a large PSU/ Industrial Undertaking.
(IV)  DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER (FINANCE) :  1 Post (OBC) 
Qualifications Graduate with a pass in the Final examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India/ Institute of Cost & Works Accounts of India / SAS
Experience Should have at least 16 years professional experience in dealing with Banks /Finance Institutions/ Govt. Regulatory bodies on all matters having financial implications, Taxation matters and assist the Corporate Management in effective Financial Management.
(V) DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER (TECHNICAL) : 4 Posts (1-SC, 1-OBC, 2- Gen)
Qualifications Should be an Engineering Graduate in Mechanical/ Marine Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Naval Architecture with an aggregate of not less than 55% of marks in qualifying exam.
Desirable  : MBA will be preferred.
Experience Should have at least 16 years of relevant professional experience in Design/ Construction/ repairs of Naval Vessels/ Submarines.
(VI) DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGERS (SUBMARINE TECH) : 1 Post (GEN) 
Qualifications Should be an Engineering Graduate in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Electronics with an aggregate of not less than 55% of marks in qualifying exam.
Experience at least 16 years professional experience.
(VII) CHIEF MANAGER (TECHNICAL) :  1 Post (ST)    
Qualifications Should be an Engineering Graduate in Mechanical/Marine Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Naval Architecture with an aggregate of not less than 55% of marks in qualifying exam.
Desirable  : MBA will be preferred.
Experience 15 years relevant professional experience in Design/ Construction/ repairs of Naval Vessels / Submarines.
(VIII) MANAGER (PERSONNEL & ADMINISTRATION) : 2 Posts (1-GEN, 1-OBC) 
Qualifications : Graduate in any discipline with a Post Graduate Degree/ Two year Post Graduate Diploma in Labour & Social Welfare or Labour Studies or PM & IR or HR Management or MBA with Personnel Management awarded by recognized Universities/ Institutes registered with AICTE with not less than 50% marks in qualifying examination.
Desirable   :  Degree in Law.
Experience : Should have at least 12 years relevant professional experience in Personnel Management and Industrial relations functions in a large PSU/ Industrial Undertaking.
(IX) MEDICAL OFFICERS AT DY. MANAGER (E3)/ SENIOR MEDICAL OFFICER (E2)/ MEDICAL OFFICER (E1) : 3 Posts (1-Gen, 1-OBC& 1-PH(OH)
Qualifications : Candidate should have MBBS Degree and registered with Indian Medical Council. Desirable Preference will be given to those having Post Graduate Degree / Diploma in General Medicine/ Industrial Medicine/ OB & Gynecology/ Radiology/ Pediatrics. Only lady Doctors will be taken in OB & Gynecology discipline.
(x)  MANAGEMENT TRAINEES :  34 Posts
(a) TECHNICAL : 22 posts (11- Gen, 5- OBC, 3- SC, 2- ST, 1- PH(HH) 
Full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized Indian University/ Institute with minimum 60% of marks in the aggregate of all years/semesters (55% in aggregate for SC/ST candidates) in the disciplines of Mechanical/ Mech. Marine or EEE or Naval Architecture
(b) HR : 6 POSTS (4 - Gen; 1- OBC;  1- PH(OH) 
Should be a Graduate in any discipline with Two years full time Post Graduate Degree or Diploma or Three years part-time Post Graduate Diploma in HRM or MBA with Specialization in HR awarded by recognized Universities / Institute registered with AICTE with 60% of marks (55% for SC/ST).
(c) FINANCE : 6 POSTS (3 - Gen, 2 - OBC, 1 - SC)
A Graduate with a pass in the final examination of the institute of Chartered Accountants of India/ Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India.

SELECTION PROCEDURE : HAL JOBS
Selection process will comprise of All-India based Online Selection Test and the Interviews.
The candidate has to download his Admit card from HAL website. Admit cards will not be sent either by post or by e-mail.

Screning Test : 2 1/2  duration contain three parts & comprising of Multiple Choice Questions . 
Part – I will consist of 20 MCQs on General Awareness. 
Part – II will consist of 40 MCQs on English & Reasoning. 
Part – III will consist of 100 MCQs on the concerned discipline of Engineering / Marketing / HR / Legal. For Management Trainees (Marketing), Part – III will consist of 50 questions from the respective Engineering discipline and 50 questions from Marketing discipline. 
The candidates will be shortlisted  for interview on the basis of Online Selection Test marks in order of merit in the ratio of 1: 5 to the number of vacancies in each discipline / post and category. 
All UR candidates of each discipline/ post along with candidates belonging to OBC, SC, ST category of each discipline/ post,  who do not avail any relaxation, will be grouped together and then arranged in descending order of merit and they will be called for interview in the ratio of 1:5 in UR category. 
Candidates belonging to OBC / SC / ST categories who are not shortlisted for interview under UR category will be regrouped with their respective categories and they will be called for interview in the ratio of 1:5 in their respective category. Final selection shall be prepared by assigning the weightage of 85% marks for Online Test and 15% marks for Interview.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
CTC per annum after absorption as Engineer / Officer is Rs. 6.6 to Rs.7 lakhs, depending on the location of the posting.

Mathematical Physics : Linear vector space; matrices; vector calculus; linear differential equations; elements of complex analysis; Laplace transforms, Fourier analysis, elementary ideas about tensors.
Classical Mechanics : Conservation laws; central forces, Kepler problem and planetary motion; collisions and scattering in laboratory and centre of mass frames; mechanics of system of particles; rigid body dynamics; moment of inertia tensor; noninertial frames and pseudo forces; variational principle; Lagrange’s and Hamilton’s formalisms; equation of motion, cyclic coordinates, Poisson bracket; periodic motion, small oscillations, normal modes; special theory of relativity – Lorentz transformations, relativistic kinematics, mass-energy equivalence.
Electromagnetic Theory : Solution of electrostatic and magnetostatic problems includingboundary value problems;dielectrics andconductors; Biot-Savart’s and Ampere’s laws; Faraday’s law; Maxwell’s equations; scalar and vector potentials; Coulomb and Lorentz gauges; Electromagnetic waves and their reflection, refraction, interference, diffraction and polarization. Poynting vector, Poynting theorem, energy and momentum of electromagnetic waves; radiation from a moving charge.
Quantum Mechanics: Physical basis of quantum mechanics; uncertainty principle; Schrodinger equation; one, two and three dimensional potential problems; particle in a box, harmonic oscillator, hydrogen atom; linear vectors and operators in Hilbert space; angular momentum and spin; addition of angular momenta; time independent perturbation theory; elementary scattering theory.
Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics : Laws of thermodynamics; macrostates and microstates; phase space; probability ensembles; partition function, free energy, calculation of thermodynamic quantities; classical and quantum statistics; degenerate Fermi gas; black body radiation and Planck’s distribution law; Bose-Einstein condensation; first and second order phase transitions, critical point.
Atomic and Molecular Physics : Spectra of one- and many-electron atoms; LS and jj coupling; hyperfine structure; Zeeman and Stark effects; electric dipole transitions and selection rules; X-ray spectra; rotational and vibrational spectra of diatomic molecules; electronic transition in diatomic molecules, Franck-Condon principle; Raman effect; NMR and ESR; lasers.
Solid State Physics : Elements of crystallography; diffraction methods for structure determination; bonding in solids; elastic properties of solids; defects in crystals; lattice vibrations and thermal properties of solids; free electron theory; band theory of solids; metals, semiconductors and insulators; transport properties; optical, dielectric and magnetic properties of solids; elements of superconductivity.
Nuclear and Particle Physics : Nuclear radii and charge distributions, nuclear binding energy, Electric and magnetic moments; nuclear models, liquid drop model – semi-empirical mass formula, Fermi gas model of nucleus, nuclear shell model; nuclear force and two nucleon problem; Alpha decay, Beta-decay, electromagnetic transitions in nuclei;Rutherford scattering,nuclear reactions, conservation laws; fission and fusion;particle accelerators and detectors; elementary particles, photons, baryons, mesons and leptons; quark model.
Electronics : Network analysis; semiconductor devices; Bipolar Junction Transistors, Field Effect Transistors, amplifier and oscillator circuits; operational amplifier, negative feedback circuits ,active filters and oscillators; rectifier circuits, regulated power supplies; basic digital logic circuits, sequential circuits, flip-flops, counters, registers, A/D and D/A conversion.

ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS
Linear Algebra: Matrix algebra, Systems of linear equations, Eigen values and eigen vectors.
Calculus: Functions of single variable, Limit, continuity and differentiability, Mean value theorems, Evaluation of definite and improper integrals, Partial derivatives, Total derivative, Maxima and minima, Gradient, Divergence and Curl, Vector identities, Directional derivatives, Line, Surface and Volume integrals, Stokes, Gauss and Green’s theorems.
Differential equations: First order equations (linear and nonlinear), Higher order linear differential equations with constant coefficients, Cauchy’s and Euler’s equations, Initial and boundary value problems, Laplace transforms, Solutions of one dimensional heat and wave equations and Laplace equation.
Complex variables: Analytic functions, Cauchy’s integral theorem, Taylor and Laurent series.
Probability and Statistics: Definitions of probability and sampling theorems, Conditional probability, Mean, median, mode and standard deviation, Random variables, Poisson,Normal and Binomial distributions.
Numerical Methods: Numerical solutions of linear and non-linear algebraic equations Integration by trapezoidal and Simpson’s rule, single and multi-step methods for differential equations.
APPLIED MECHANICS AND DESIGN
Engineering Mechanics: Free body diagrams and equilibrium; trusses and frames; virtual work; kinematics and dynamics of particles and of rigid bodies in plane motion, including impulse and momentum (linear and angular) and energy formulations; impact.
Strength of Materials: Stress and strain, stress-strain relationship and elastic constants, Mohr’s circle for plane stress and plane strain, thin cylinders; shear force and bending moment diagrams; bending and shear stresses; deflection of beams; torsion of circular shafts; Euler’s theory of columns; strain energy methods; thermal stresses.
Theory of Machines: Displacement, velocity and acceleration analysis of plane mechanisms; dynamic analysis of slider-crank mechanism; gear trains; flywheels.
Vibrations: Free and forced vibration of single degree of freedom systems; effect of damping; vibration isolation; resonance, critical speeds of shafts.
Design: Design for static and dynamic loading; failure theories; fatigue strength and the S-N diagram; principles of the design of machine elements such as bolted, riveted and welded joints, shafts, spur gears, rolling and sliding contact bearings, brakes and clutches.
FLUID MECHANICS AND THERMAL SCIENCES
Fluid Mechanics: Fluid properties; fluid statics, manometry, buoyancy; control-volume analysis of mass, momentum and energy; fluid acceleration; differential equations of continuity and momentum; Bernoulli’s equation; viscous flow of incompressible fluids; boundary layer; elementary turbulent flow; flow through pipes, head losses in pipes, bends etc.
Heat-Transfer : Modes of heat transfer; one dimensional heat conduction, resistance concept, electrical analogy, unsteady heat conduction, fins; dimensionless parameters in free and forced convective heat transfer, various correlations for heat transfer in flow over flat plates and through pipes; thermal boundary layer; effect of turbulence; radiative heat transfer, black and grey surfaces, shape factors, network analysis; heat exchanger performance, LMTD and NTU methods.
Thermodynamics: Zeroth, First and Second laws of thermodynamics; thermodynamic system and processes; Carnot cycle.irreversibility and availability; behaviour of ideal and real gases, properties of pure substances, calculation of work and heat in ideal processes; analysis of thermodynamic cycles related to energy conversion.
Applications: Power Engineering: Steam Tables, Rankine, Brayton cycles with regeneration and reheat. I.C. Engines: air-standard Otto, Diesel cycles. Refrigeration and air-conditioning: Vapour refrigeration cycle, heat pumps, gas refrigeration, Reverse Brayton cycle; moist air: psychrometric chart, basic psychrometric processes. Turbomachinery:Pelton-wheel, Francis and Kaplan turbines — impulse and reaction principles, velocity diagrams.

MANUFACTURING AND INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING

Engineering Materials: Structure and properties of engineering materials, heat treatment, stress-strain diagrams for engineering materials.
Metal Casting: Design of patterns, moulds and cores; solidification and cooling; riser and gating design, design considerations.
Forming: Plastic deformation and yield criteria; fundamentals of hot and cold working processes; load estimation for bulk (forging, rolling, extrusion, drawing) and sheet (shearing, deep drawing, bending) metal forming processes; principles of powder metallurgy.
Joining: Physics of welding, brazing and soldering; adhesive bonding; design considerations in welding.
Machining and Machine Tool Operations: Mechanics of machining, single and multi-point cutting tools, tool geometry and materials, tool life and wear; economics of machining; principles of non-traditional machining processes; principles of work holding, principles of design of jigs and fixtures
Metrology and Inspection: Limits, fits and tolerances; linear and angular measurements; comparators; gauge design; interferometry; form and finish measurement; alignment and testing methods; tolerance analysis in manufacturing and assembly.
Computer Integrated Manufacturing: Basic concepts of CAD/CAM and their integration tools.
Production Planning and Control: Forecasting models, aggregate production planning, scheduling, materials requirement planning.
Inventory Control: Deterministic and probabilistic models; safety stock inventory control systems.
Operations Research: Linear programming, simplex and duplex method, transportation, assignment, network flow models, simple queuing models, PERT and CPM.
